I visited Hutong last week with some friends from Norway since they wanted to try some authentic Northern Chinese food.
They are part of the Aqua restaurant group and it is ranked one of the top five Chinese restaurants of the world by the American Express Insider Report.
It is located at a prime location, easy to find and within a 5- minute’s walk from the MTR Tsimshatsui station.
Would it live up to the star billing?
We tried their “Feng Wei “Brunch that day for $428 (about €45/£40/$55) before the service charge.
This consisted of 18 courses and we could add 200 HKD for free flow champagne and other cocktails which we found good value for money.
Before we started eating, we were wowed by the view. It was a rather good day and sitting by the huge windows, we had a full view of Hong Kong Island.
The appetizers were impressive, especially the foie gras with smoked egg. The other spicy appetizers really hit the point, giving that authentic Chinese flavour. For the dim sum, the lobster wonton was flavourful, while the spring rolls surprised us with a modern twist with kim-chi and mozzarella cheese inside, which was nonetheless tasty.
All the main hot dishes were delicious, with my personal favorite being the cod. The desserts were creative and put a nice end to the meal. There are shows every weekend. We were all really satisfied!
In all, I would highly recommend this restaurant!
