Serving up Cantonese cuisine and part of the Maxim’s Catering Group in Hong Kong, Jade Garden is not only well known and popular among locals, but also highly praised by tourists and visitors.
I brought some friends who were here visiting from Canada to Jade Garden for dinner.
Luckily, we made a reservation for a table in advance as the place became packed from 7pm onwards.
The décor was glamorous with chandeliers yet very cosy and, coupled with helpful staff, guests felt as though they were at home – but with the benefit of cooking that few could dream of replicating.
After sipping on China tea, we ordered some cold dishes to start – one based on cucumber and the other preserved fish. Both were very appetizing.
Next we had minced pigeon wrapped in lettuce, which was refreshing. We also ordered vegetable soup, crispy fried chicken, steamed fish, fried vegetables and prawns in three styles as our main dishes. They were all of high standard – nicely presented and very flavourful.
The price of dinner was around US$30 per person (about €25 or £22). I thought this was very reasonable considering the quality of food and overall environment of the restaurant.
It also serves dim sum during lunchtime, but remember to reserve a table as they are always packed!
The location is convenient as it is just across the road from Kwai Fong MTR station.
