Fells Point is one of the oldest corners of Baltimore, founded in 1763 as a shipbuilding town on the harbour. The streets are still paved with the original Belgian block, the row houses still lean toward the water, and the food still comes from the families who have run these counters for decades. It is a neighbourhood best seen slowly, on foot, with someone who knows which doors to walk through.&nbsp;Over a few hours, you'll eat your way from the harbour to Little Italy. You'll taste Maryland crab cake the way the city actually makes it, pierogies from a Polish deli that has been in the market since 1985, a potato knish from a Jewish institution that has been slinging corned beef for over a century, and a mini cannoli from a Little Italy pastry shop that opened in 1956. Along the way you'll get to know Old Bay, the seasoning that ties the whole city together.&nbsp;Your guide lives in Baltimore and orders here on their own days off. They'll walk you past the waterfront where Frederick Douglass once worked, through the public market that has stood since 1786, and into Little Italy, where the immigrant story of the city is written into the street names. Less a lecture, more the running commentary of a friend who knows the neighbourhood.&nbsp;There's one more stop we keep to ourselves.
