Here at Secret Food Tours, we wanted to make the best wine tour. We have heard often, wine tasting seems a little intimidating. So, we have decided to take a lighter approach to wine pairing; more drinker friendly, with mouthwatering foods and some easy to remember techniques to make picking and pairing any wine super easy.
A few minutes from either the Moulin Rouge or Montmartre in the famous district of Pigalle, renowned for its bars and nightlife, our authentic 1870 wine cellar awaits you. There you will be introduced to simplified techniques of pairing your wines with food with live demonstrations.
Your host is a dedicated foodie who enjoys nothing more than sharing with you not just wine facts but also food and interesting stories, so through the pairings you will also share the French culture built around wine and the "guinguettes" of Paris' then suburb.
Like with all our tours, you will be served fine wines paired with a selection of delicious cured meat, cheese, fresh bread and even a macaron. Don’t forget our Secret Wine!

We chose the Montmartre district for our Paris Wine Tour because of the area's historical link to the entertainment, nightlife and drinking culture. Until the French Revolution a defence wall surrounded the city, at each of its entrance gates, legions of open bars, the "Guinguettes" appeared, there, the locals would get outside of the city to slum it at the open bars, siping untaxed cheaper wines and dancing waltz on the air of the local bands. This has been widely depicted by Lautrec and the Impressionist movement. By joining us on this Wine Pairing experience we will share this atmosphere with you.

The hill of Montmartre has always been known for its windmills and vineyards and in the 18th century, when Montmartre was just outside of the city of Paris, wine bars and restaurants began to flourish as they offered tax free beverages to thirsty citizens. With the flow of Parisians came the artists, with Picasso, Renoir, Dufy and many more all calling Montmartre home at one time or another, all helping to foster a culture and atmosphere not found anywhere else in the city.
While the buildings have replaced the vineyards, and the windmills have almost all but disappeared, the party atmosphere and spirit of community that has surrounded the artists, residents and visitors of the area for generations, still remains anchored to the sides of the hill.
