What you'll do

On our Secret Food Tours: Los Angeles you’ll find out why Los Angeles, is known as the "Creative Capital of the World" for being at the forefront of food invention and adaptation. You'll sample a wide variety of wonderful dishes created in our state.

While many of the influences of our dishes come from Mexico, you'll also find food from a "French" man, as well as connections to the Far East. We'll take you through one of the coolest neighborhoods in downtown LA, we'll avoid tourist traps and experience a true insider's perspective on the food culture of Los Angeles.

We'll discover the oldest house in Los Angeles, built in 1818, before we move on to try our first local dish, a taquito with special local sauces and a delicious cheese enchilada.
Next we'll visit a restaurant that has been in business since 1908 where we'll try an incredible hot French Dip sandwich with origins going back to the 1920's.
At our next stop we'll taste succulent California style roast duck.
We'll end with a delicious sweet treat as we walk back to our tours beginning.
As with all our tours, there's our delicious Secret Dish.

The downtown area is one of the best places in the city to see the roots of all the cultures that have contributed to our cuisine. With old hotels, historic buildings, and a colorful, vibrant Mexican village, this area is truly emblematic of the rich cultural heritage that make up the fabric of LA's history. As you stand on these historic streets, you'll be able to see the nearby downtown highrises and get a sense of the evolution of this great city.

How do I order?

That is very easy! Go to our "Book Now" page, where we detail our tours. Select your tour and the time of your tour and book it! Are you looking for something special or are you organizing an event? Just email us at Group & Private Tours and we will do our best to arrange something that suits you. After your booking is made, we will send you an automatic email confirmation. If you have any questions before booking, feel free to contact us via email

What is included in the food tour?

All the delicious food and drinks mentioned above, but if you want more alcohol (and who doesn't?) We offer a upgraded drinks package that gives you 2 drinks.

Where is the meeting spot?

You can find the meeting spot here and if it's not clear you can always contact us.

The meeting spot is at Union Station near the information desk. Our guide will be standing there to greet you with our Secret Tours umbrella so we are easy to spot!

Where the tour will end?

The tour ends at the Chinatown Central Plaza, But your guide will walk the group back to Union Plaza allowing people to revisit and spend extra time at their favorite spots.

Is your food tour suitable for a vegetarian or someone with other dietary requirements?

You can always tell our guide of any food allergies or special dietary requirements. We will adapt the menu so you can fully enjoy the tour! If you have any doubts or concerns, feel free to email us at [email protected] before booking. We have had many vegetarians doing the tour with us and they all enjoyed it thoroughly. Unfortunately this tour is not gluten free.

I am traveling with my family, is the tour ok for infants/children?

Children are quite welcome and it's free for any child 2 years or under. We can give them drinks other than alcoholic and you are free to enjoy the tour with your entire family of all ages.

I don't drink alcohol. Can I book your tour?

This is not a problem. Just inform our guide before the tour starts. During the tasting you can select another beverage you like!

Is there enough food during your tour?

Think of the tour as a tasting menu. As we travel you get many delicious treats that comprise a meal with dessert. But there is a lot of food, you will not be hungry after the tour.

Where do I add my discount voucher?

I would like to take your tour but it is already fully booked. Is there a way I can do the tour?

Our tours are often sold out very quickly. If the date you requested is not available, please do not hesitate to email us and we can see if there is anything we can do. We cannot promise but we will try our best to sort something out for you.

Is there a lot of walking?

To join our food tour, you must wear comfortable shoes. There will be around 45 mins of walking but it is not too difficult and is broken up between food stops. The guide walks at the pace of the tour members, you will never be rushed. There are no stairs on the tour or hills.

How many people max are on this tour?

We take 11 people maximum. If you are more than 12 people, please do not hesitate to email us and we will try to see if we can accommodate.

I cannot find a way to print the confirmation. Is it OK if I have it on my phone?

You do not have to print your voucher. A confirmation on your phone will be fine!

If I purchase a voucher as a gift, or am given a voucher how long is it valid for?

All of our vouchers expire one year from the date of purchase.

Can I choose my own cheese and meat?

Our guide will take care of everything. Should you wish to try something special, please inform our guide and they will do their best to make you happy.

Where does your food come from?

Top-quality, fresh and local!

What if it rains or I change my plans?

Fortunately, the weather is predictable in Los Angeles. We do not issue refunds as per our terms and conditions. We also inform you that we never cancel a booking even if we have only 2 people! However we do reserve the right to cancel the tour if we feel the weather is extreme, and we cannot run the tour due to this. Can I pay the tour in cash?

You must book directly on our website. We do not accept cash payments. Our online payment is safe, secured and SSL protected.

Why do we need to pay for booking fee?

The booking fee that you have to pay is up to our ticket provider and we can't change it. All our clients need to pay for it upon booking. The booking fee charged contributes to the cost of the ticketing system to provide an excellent service to our customers.

Foreign Transaction Fees

A few banks have charged their customer an extra fee while booking with us (this isn't the booking fee but another fee added by the bank). We think this is unfair, if this happens let us know by showing us in your bank statement and we will refund this fee as a gesture of good will.
