This district is very representative of the evolution that the city has been going through for centuries.
First, with the settlement of the Knights Templars long ago. The great wealth they had acquired through gifts bestowed upon them by appreciative Christians enabled them to purchase vast estates and accelerate the process. One such estate was situated on the eastern edge of Paris, in Le Marais close to today's Hôtel de Ville, St-Paul & Temple, where a group of them settled in 1139.
Later, with the creation of "Hôtel Particuliers" as Le Marais was for long the aristocratic district of Paris, it hosts many outstanding buildings of historic and architectural importance. Once shabby, the district has been rehabilitated in the 70s and Le Marais is now one of Paris' main localities for art galleries. Following its rehabilitation, Le Marais has become a fashionable district, home to many trendy restaurants, fashion houses, and hip galleries

Saint-Germain-des-Prés is nestled in the heart of the 6th arrondissement of Paris, this chic and trendy district has always been a Mecca of Parisian intellectual life and is full of small bookstores, cafés and other art galleries.
It is a picturesque district characterized by its 17th century buildings, centuries-old churches, haute couture boutiques, charming tea rooms and unusual cafes. In the twentieth century, it was associated with intellectuals and philosophers who had made it their home.
Today, this part of the capital still has a specific aura that goes back to that time when freedom and joie de vivre had a different dimension.

Our City Manager Stephane is a huge foodie who since a young age has always been interested in new flavors and tastes. Being from France, Wine, Meat and Cheese are some of the most important things in his life and he can't wait to share his local favorites with all the visitors making their way to his hometown.
As we explore one of his favorite parts of the city, Montmartre, you'll feel like a real local, with the cobbled streets, baguettes under arm, and clinking wine glasses round every corner. The historical value of this area will make your trip feel like a step back in time, through Paris' fascinating story.
Wine has always been a huge part of our culture here in France, with even many children taking their first sip as early as 8 years old! Since our wines are considered some of the best in the world, we make it our mission to share the best bottles we can with visitors interested in learning more about our culture. All of our experienced guides will be able to treat you to some of our favourite wines, paired with delicious cheeses - the true Parisian way!
We chose the Montmartre district for our Paris food tour because of the area's flourishing restaurant scene, historic culture, and charming ambiance. In the past, windmills, farming areas, and art studios were prominent features of the Montmartre landscape. Now the area is flourishing with first-class wine bars, fine-dining restaurants, and rare shops all adding to its appeal as one of the best and most unique food destinations in the world.
